Violet Foundation Supporting Meningococcal (NSW)
NSW based, with supporting families in Sydney and on the Central Coast. Works to raise awareness and support families who have been in contact with the disease. President Col Greenway Based on the Central Coast, the foundation was formed after the Sanigs lost their 7 year old son, Stephen to meningococcal septicaemia. They campaign tirelessly to influence politicians and educate the public. Sue-Anne and Michael Sanig The first foundation in Australia specifically devoted to raising awareness of meningococcal disease, it was formed when the Youngs lost their 18 year old daughter Amanda to meningococcal septicaemia. The Paige Weatherspoon Foundation (SA) Nicky and Dwayne Weatherspoon The Meningitis Centre (WA) Based in Perth, The Meningitis Centre is a not-for-profit organization established in 1992 by a group of parents and health care professionals to raise awareness of meningitis and its many forms. The centre has representatives in Queensland, NSW, Victoria and South Australia and through this network provides brochures, symptoms charts, support networks for families and information evenings for child care centres, infant health groups, private organisations and service clubs.
